A 26-year-old Kissimmee man died after a crash near Universal Studios Thursday morning when the front wheel of his motorcycle came off as he tried to pass a truck.

The accident happened around 8:43 a.m. that morning, the Orlando Police Department reported. Jason Charles Emery, 26, of Kissimmee, was driving his Honda motorcycle east in the center lane near the 6300 block of Hollywood Way behind a Chevrolet pick-up truck. As he accelerated, attempting to change into the left lane, the front wheel of his motorcycle came off.

Emery lost control of the motorcycle, striking the curb on the north side of the road. He was ejected from the vehicle, which continued to slide into the pick-up truck.

Rescue workers took Emery to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, but he later died of injuries suffered in the crash.

The truck driver, 27-year-old Beth Ann Tash, of Orlando, was uninjured in the crash.
